"Patience" features a red Alstroemeria, also known as the Peruvian Lily or Lily of the Incas.
This beautiful flower was given to my family by a friend. Seeing it displayed so elegantly in a vase, I knew I had to paint it. Created digitally using Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom tablet, this piece was painted during a time of personal difficulty, when my patience was being tested.
The Alstroemeria can be associated with devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, symbolizing a bond of devotion and exceptional strength. It also represents recognizing Jesus' love for us, and our hope and love for Him in return.
"Patience" is about trusting and surrendering to God in all things, trusting in Jesus Christ, and striving to be patient as He is.
"Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, RSV-CE)

The printing method is Giclée, a digital printing process using inkjet printers producing high-quality prints, especially for fine art.
The material used is a fine art paper called Hahnemühle German etching. The substrate weight for the art paper is 310 gsm (9.1 oz/yd), the finish is a velvet matte with a textured finish, and the paper is a warm or natural white.
